the other is included within the boundary of selfhood Luce Irigaray
table oilcloth, size 4mx2,5m

The floor is cover with the mosaic of elements in the shape of a house pattern, a recurring theme in the entire exhibition. The individual components are made of colored tablecloths bought in Skarholmen. I had got it in the shop run by immigrants with items for their homes. The items have the aesthetics completely different form “Swedish” modest and subtle design. This is also another interesting aspect of the home in the context of Sweden. Swedes spend more time at home, hone and refine them and furnish with great solemnity and heart. There are a lot of shops with cushions, blankets, beds, all that the house need to became a nice, cozy, full domesticity. Especially the long autumn and winter evenings that stretch into infinity are the reason for it. On the other hand, we have the aesthetics of immigrants, radically different, which is a negation of the “Swedish” almost in one hundred percent.
However, the mosaic of glistening gold and pink tablecloths, placed on a wooden pine floor perfectly blended, there is no discord or dissonance between them.
The title “The other is included within the boundary of selfhood” – another is in the border of you, The other is a part of you.
