re-doing, re-pairing, mending, fixing

Currently I am working on my PhD research project entitled ‘House, home and domesticity’ at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. In parallel I develop some parts of it more in detail during an independent postgraduate course named ‘Organizing Discourse’ at Konstfack in Stockholm, Sweden.
 Within my artistic practice I have made several works that are related to concepts of home and domesticity. I examine these issues from a feminine perspective and with particular attention to everyday life.
 Within the work I also want to articulate an increasing concern of mine about an excess of production of stuff in the world.
 The combination of those aspects made me realise that I needed to subject my previous works to a close (re-)reading and that I wanted to relate them to theoretical contexts encountered during my PhD research.
 In this context I do not want to produce ‘new’ artefactual works for exhibitions but question the already existing work instead, based on various ways of use, re-use and repair.
 Two questions I keep asking myself are ‘Whether it is really necessary to produce new artefacts?’ and ‘Whether one can imagine new lifes for existing things?’
