Memory Remains

A curtain made of leftover linen after embroidering 58 figures for the Women’s Curtain, a more private, younger sister, made of leftovers, called by the author Małgorzata Markiewicz Remnants of Memory. These seemingly insignificant fragments discarded during the creation of the official work became material to commemorate those who remain in the shadows as servants of everyday life, invisible and underestimated. The scraps were sewn together with gold threads, as were the names and surnames of women privately commemorated. On the other hand, the names and surnames of 48 women involved in the creation of the Women’s Curtain were embroidered with white threads.
