I Am Very Glad that You Could Make It!

Performance was a direct response to the exhibition Feminist Avant-Garde of the 1970s

And took place at The Photographers’ Gallery in London.

Markiewicz suggests that a woman today is expected to balance many roles; that of a mother, wife, cook, cleaner or a professional, much like being an acrobat performing tricks in the circus. Women are often expected to juggle multiple tasks in order to fulfill their various identities, all whilst facing societal judgement and expectation; society’s gaze is fixed upon them. Markiewicz will put herself in the spotlight as she presents I Am Very Glad That You Could Make It.
